The New Debate – Textbooks vs. iPads

September 15, 2011

TabletThere’s a debate going on out there. Should schools, whether brick-and-mortar or online, be switching over to digital learning as opposed to tried and true textbooks. Interesting dilemma. According to a recent article in the Huffington Post, schools spend approximately $500 – $600 on textbooks and graphing calculators for their students. An iPad costs around $500, depending on what accessories and applications are also purchased. If all schools move towards supplying classrooms and students with digital learning tools, what will become of all the major textbook publishing companies? Certainly something to ponder.
