About the Program
What Will I Learn
Carrington’s Health Studies program provides an opportunity for individuals to build on prior education to earn the educational credential that is often needed for advancement in the health and wellness fields.
The Health Studies program is an online degree-completion option that offers students a broad base of general education course offerings that can be completed in as few as 42 weeks. Applicants must have earned a certificate from an accredited Institution with a minimum of 24 semester credit hours and at least a 2.0 GPA applicable to a health-related program.
The curriculum is a broad base of general education course offerings focusing on:
- English writing and composition
- Interpersonal communication
- Computer literacy
- Social sciences
- Critical thinking
Community health workers are crucial to the development and maintenance of healthy individuals and communities. Duties range from providing social support and informal counseling to advocating for community health needs. Community health workers may also provide blood pressure screenings or administer first aid.

About Online Learning
At Carrington, we believe learning should be at the pace of the student. That’s why we offer online degree-completion programs to allow students to learn “anytime, anywhere” while continuing to work their current employer.
Earning an associate degree in Health Studies via this online degree-completion program requires 30 to 36 semester credit hours of general education courses, depending on credits transferred. Students can complete the program in as few as 42 weeks (not including breaks).
To enroll, students must have a certificate from an accredited institution with a minimum of 24 semester credit hours and at least a 2.0 GPA applicable to a health-related program. Once you meet the minimum requirements, all it takes to get started is unrestricted access to a computer with reliable Internet access and an email account.
