Healthcare Programs Available at Carrington College’s Reno Campus

Registered Nursing

Carrington College’s Associate Degree in Nursing program in Reno prepares students to coordinate patient care, educate patients and families, and provide guidance and support across healthcare settings (1). Students learn through classroom instruction, hands-on lab simulations and supervised clinical experiences supported by area hospitals and healthcare facilities. In the campus skills lab and simulation theater, patient simulators reproduce functions such as breathing, heart rate and eye changes, allowing students to practice observation, assessment and patient-care procedures in a realistic environment. The program can be completed in as few as 23 months and prepares graduates to pursue RN licensure*. It is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), with a most recent decision of Continuing Accreditation, and has full approval from the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

Medical Assisting

Medical assistants are a vital part of any healthcare office, completing administrative and clinical tasks in physicians’ offices, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. A medical assistant may take a patient’s vital signs, record a patient’s history and personal information, and schedule appointments. (2) Carrington College’s Medical Assisting program provides students with hands-on training for this healthcare career. Earn your Certificate of Achievement in as few as 9 months.

Phlebotomy Technician

Phlebotomy technicians are trained to put patients at ease and draw blood as painlessly and stress-free as possible. Phlebotomists may work in doctors’ offices, hospitals, laboratories, or blood donation centers, and are responsible for properly labeling blood samples, entering sample information into databases, and keeping work areas clean and sanitary. (3) Learn to draw blood for medical tests, research, and transfusions with Carrington College’s Phlebotomy Technician course, and earn your Certificate of Completion in as few as 3 months.
