More than 650 climbers participated in Scale the Strat, the annual fundraiser for the American Lung Association. The goal? To promote lung health and preventing lung disease. The Stratosphere is the highest building west of the Mississippi River with 1,455 steps to climb to the top. Students and faculty members from the Respiratory Care program[1] at Carrington College’s Las Vegas Campus worked throughout the 108-floor Tower to encourage the runners and walkers on their way up and administer oxygen to those who needed it. “My overall experience was amazing. It was great to be a part of such a huge event and to intermingle with so many people from different walks of life,” said Respiratory Care program student William Kirtz. “People from all over the world came to participate in this event. Each doing it for different reasons – whether it was to promote awareness of some respiratory disease, raise money for a cause, or just to show support. I’m glad I was given the opportunity, along with my fellow students, to be a part of such a positive initiative that holds ties with my future career.” “I have to say I had the best time not only being a part of an awesome college, but together we got to assist as a team. I definitely look forward to assisting and maybe just maybe Scale the Strat next year,” said Layla Acosta, another student in the program.
