The Carrington College campus in Portland hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and launch party for its new Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program on April 6, from 2 to 3 p.m. at 1052 SE 96th Ave, Portland, OR 97216. The event celebrated the opening of the college’s nursing training facility and offered community members an opportunity to learn about the program firsthand.
The event included guided tours of the nursing training facility, light refreshments, and remarks from campus leadership, a current student, and representatives of the local Chamber of Commerce. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official launch of the ADN program at the Portland campus.
“The Portland area has a growing need for qualified nurses, and this program is designed to help meet that need,” said Jay Brownson, Assistant Dean of Nursing at Carrington College’s Portland campus. “This program gives students the clinical skills and academic foundation they need to enter the workforce as prepared, competent nurses. We look forward to welcoming the community to see what we have built.”
The ADN program is designed to prepare students for entry-level registered nursing positions across a range of healthcare settings. The Portland campus’s nursing training facility is equipped with simulation and lab resources to support hands-on learning. In addition to campus leadership, a current ADN student will speak about their decision to enroll in the program.
“At Carrington College, our goal is to prepare students for careers that make a difference,” said Joel Nelson, campus director at Carrington College in Portland. “Through hands-on learning, dedicated faculty, and strong campus support, we help students graduate ready to serve patients, families and communities with confidence and professionalism.”
Members of the local Chamber of Commerce were also on hand for the event. Attendance was open to prospective students, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and anyone interested in learning more about the program.
