Carrington's Medical Assisting Program

Medical Assisting

Medical assistants are a vital part of any healthcare office, completing administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. A medical assistant may take a patient’s vital signs, record a patient’s history and personal information, and schedule appointments. Learn more about the Medical Assisting program.

Dental Assisting

Dental assistants help hygienists and dentists with routine procedures like passing instruments and sterilizing equipment, and may work to make patients more comfortable as they visit a dental office. Carrington College’s Dental Assisting program includes classes on anatomy, physiology, and radiography, dental sealants and procedures, as well as front office duties and patient care.

Carrington's Veterinary Assisting Program

Veterinary Assisting / Veterinary Assistant

If you prefer furry friends to human ones, you may want to consider a career in veterinary assisting. Vet assistants help feed and bathe animals, keep veterinary offices clean and sanitized, and generally assist other veterinary professionals. A vet assistant may work with a wide variety of animals, depending on where they work. Carrington’s Veterinary Assisting program can be completed in as few as nine months.

Portland Campus Physical Resources

The Portland campus includes approximately 16,700 square feet. The primary entrance on the ground floor leads to a reception area, along with administrative offices for staff, administrative support, and student services. The campus features two lecture rooms and one computer lab, strategically positioned to accommodate large group instruction and provide computer access for all programs. Classrooms are designed to replicate the professional environments students will encounter in their careers, such as hospital rooms, doctor’s offices, and dental offices.

On the lower level, there are specialized lab training spaces for students enrolled in the Medical Assisting, Veterinary Assisting, and Dental Assisting programs. Additionally, the campus offers a break area and a student success center for students to relax and access support services.
