Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their families. Carrington College’s Associate Degree in Nursing program helps prepare you for RN licensure.

Medical Assisting

Medical assistants are a vital part of any healthcare office, completing administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. A medical assistant may take a patient’s vital signs, record a patient’s history and personal information, and schedule appointments. Learn more about the Medical Assisting program.

Carrington's Pharmacy Technology Program

Pharmacy Technology

As another option for those who want to interact with the public daily, but who may not want to perform clinical tasks, our Pharmacy Technology program provides a comprehensive education for those who want to work as a pharmacy technician. Pharmacy technicians assistant pharmacists in delivering medications to the public. A pharmacy technician may work in a retail pharmacy like Walgreens or in an in-house pharmacy at medical facilities, among other work settings. Complete your pharmacy technician training in as few as nine months.

Respiratory Care

Respiratory therapists help patients breathe easier, quite literally. A respiratory therapist may work with a premature infant whose lungs are not properly developed, a young adult with chronic breathing issues due to asthma, or an elderly patient dealing with an advanced diagnosis affecting the lungs. Carrington’s Respiratory Therapist Education program helps students learn to assess and treat patients with respiratory diagnoses and can be completed in as few as 23 months.

Surgical technologists—sometimes called operating room assistants—help prepare patients for surgery, drape patients before procedures, prep equipment, and generally assist surgeons as they operate. Surgical technology training can be completed in as little as 15 months.

Dental Assisting

Dental assistants help hygienists and dentists with routine procedures like passing instruments and sterilizing equipment, and may work to make patients more comfortable as they visit a dental office. Carrington College’s Dental Assisting program includes classes on anatomy, physiology, and radiography, dental sealants and procedures, as well as front office duties and patient care.

Veterinary Assisting

If you prefer furry friends to human ones, you may want to consider a career in veterinary assisting. Vet assistants help feed and bathe animals, keep veterinary offices clean and sanitized, and generally assist other veterinary professionals. A vet assistant may work with a wide variety of animals, depending on where they work. Carrington’s Veterinary Assisting program can be completed in as few as nine months.
Carrington's HVAC-R Program

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R)

An HVAC-R technician ensures heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems function properly. They work in homes, schools, offices, factories, hospitals, and other buildings.

Maintenance Technician

Industrial maintenance is an overarching act of keeping machinery used in a variety of professional settings running. Maintenance technicians are effectively mechanics specializing in large-scale machinery.
