Open wide and say ahhh! That was the theme of the day as Dental Hygiene students at Carrington College, Sacramento celebrated the 10th anniversary of the campus’ Dental Hygiene Clinic with a free screening day for the community. That’s right, students provided screenings at no cost! That included reviewing and recording patient histories. Hygienists-in-training also evaluated each patient’s risk of developing oral health problems by checking faces, necks and mouths for abnormalities. “Our Dental Hygiene clinic is a tremendous resource for everyone living in the greater Sacramento area,” said Sue Smith, Executive Director for Carrington College in Sacramento. “Not only is it a training center for our Dental Hygiene students, but it also offers underserved populations in Sacramento a free place to get their teeth cleaned and learn about measures to maintain good oral hygiene.” Carrington College in Sacramento opened its Dental Hygiene Clinic in 2005. Since that time, the campus has provided dental education, screenings and oral care to thousands of area residents.
