Three faculty members from the Carrington College Reno campus were nominated for the prestigious Northern Nevada Nurses of Achievement Awards, held annually in Reno during National Nurses Week. This recognition highlights their exceptional dedication and contributions to nursing education and the healthcare community.
The faculty nominations include:
- Melody Leiva – Nominated in the Education category, Melody’s commitment to educating future nurses has made a significant impact on our students and the community. Her innovative teaching methods and passion for nursing education have set a high standard for excellence.
- Katherine ‘Katie’ Powell – Also nominated in the Education category, Katherine is celebrated for her dedication to student success and her ability to inspire and mentor aspiring nurses. Her contributions to nursing education have been invaluable in shaping the future of healthcare.
- Vicky Lang Catlin – Nominated for Lifetime Achievement, Vicky’s illustrious career in nursing has been marked by her unwavering commitment to patient care and education. Her lifelong dedication to the nursing profession serves as an inspiration to both colleagues and students.
In addition to the faculty nominations, we are proud to announce that two of our outstanding students have been awarded scholarships by the Nurse of Achievement Awards organization. This scholarship is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for the nursing field.
- Alex T. – Alex’s essay highlighted his profound desire to make a difference in the lives of others through nursing. His compassionate nature and determination to excel in his studies have earned him this well-deserved recognition.
- McKenzie L. – McKenzie’s essay detailed her journey into the nursing profession and how the scholarship will significantly impact her ability to achieve her goals. Her dedication to providing exceptional patient care and her academic achievements make her a standout recipient.
Applicants for the scholarship were required to submit essays detailing their motivations for entering the nursing field and outlining how the scholarship would impact their nursing journey. These essays were then evaluated by the committee, who selected the winners based on their compelling stories and commitment to the profession.
