Medical & Dental Programs

Medical Assisting

Medical assistants work in physicians’ offices, hospitals, or other healthcare settings in a support role that blends both clinical and clerical work. A medical assistant may take vital signs, greet patients when they check-in, schedule appointments, file paperwork, or assist a doctor as needed. The Medical Assisting program in Sacramento can be completed in as few as nine months.

Dental Assisting

Dental assistants help dentists and dental hygienists take care of patients. While some may think working as a dental assistant is all passing instruments, it can also include taking impressions or x-rays, sterilizing equipment, scheduling appointments, and greeting patients. The Carrington College Dental Assisting program in Sacramento can be completed in as few as nine months.

Pharmacy Technology

A trip to the pharmacy may be an uncommon occurrence for many, but for pharmacy technicians, it’s just another day at work. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists by interacting with customers and helping to dispense medications. While a pharmacist has a doctoral degree, our Pharmacy Technology program in Sacramento can be completed in as few as nine months.

Dental Hygiene

Oftentimes, patients at dental offices will spend the bulk of their time with a dental hygienist. Dental hygienists clean teeth to remove plaque, stains and tartar, take impressions or x-rays of patients, apply fluoride treatments, and maintain medical records. Our Dental Hygiene program in Sacramento offers hands-on training and can be completed in as few as two years.

Health Studies (online)

A Health Studies Associate Degree can open the door to many opportunities to take your career to the next level. A Health Studies degree is designed for students who have already completed a certificate of achievement in a healthcare-related program, who want to potentially further their career. This program in Health Studies in Sacramento is in an online format.

Medical Administrative Assistant

Have you ever been at a doctor’s office and seen someone who just looks like they run the place? It may have been a medical administrative assistant. Medical administrative assistants answer the phone, schedule appointments, check in patients, file paperwork, and maintain patient databases. Our Medical Administrative Assistant program in Sacramento can be completed in as few as nine months.

Medical Billing and Coding

The Medical Billing and Coding program in Sacramento helps students learn how to navigate the complex healthcare payment system. When healthcare professionals complete exams or other treatments, they need to translate those actions into codes that are then sent to insurance companies to be paid. Additionally, a medical billing and coding professional may follow up to make sure bills are paid by either insurance carriers or the patient.
