Did you forget Mother’s Day yesterday? We hope not! If it did slip your mind then unfortunately you may have a lot of making up to do!
A gift or flowers would have been nice, but your mom knows you’re at school and on a tight budget so that’s ok; but no card, not even a phone call? Ouch – She may not say it, and it may not be as important as her birthday, but you know your mom is going to be hurt that you forgot!
Want to be a medical assistant? We can help. Want a career in dental hygiene? We can help. Want to travel back in time…? At Carrington College we can help you achieve a lot of things, but time travel is beyond even us! You can’t go back in time and make it right, but you can do your best to make it up to her now…and here are a few ideas to help.
Pick up the Phone
I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “Better late than never”, so now’s the time to call your mom and tell her what she means to you, but don’t make up excuses. She brought you into the world and will see through any insincerity!
Send a Letter
When was the last time you sent a letter to anyone, let alone your mom? In the age of ‘tweets’, ‘updates’, texts and ‘posts’, it’s probably been a while. Pick out a nice card and hand write your mom a letter. Even if your handwriting is bad, a hand written note is much more personal than an email or a typed letter. Be sincere and tell her your feelings for her, so she knows how much you care. She’ll really appreciate it.
A ‘spa day’ doesn’t have to be an expensive trip. Treat her to a manicure, pedicure, or a facial, or do something together at home. Maybe you know a Massage Therapy program student who would like some extra experience? Then run her a nice aromatherapy bath with candles and chocolates. Tell your mom to leave an afternoon open for lunch, enjoy a nice meal together, then give her a Mother’s Day card with a certificate for her ‘spa surprise’ inside.
Find Time for Friends
Mom knows you’re busy – she’s busy too. Why not arrange a surprise get together with you and her girlfriends? I’m sure you know your mom’s best friend, so get her involved in your planning. Arrange a surprise get-together at her favorite place with you and her closest gal pals. You shouldn’t have any trouble convincing them to go along with your belated Mother’s Day plan! Having you and her friends together will be a special occasion for her that she won’t soon forget.
Put Next Year’s Date in Your Calendar Now!
Sunday May 11 is Mother’s Day 2014! Put a reminder in your calendar now for May 01 2014. In addition to doing all or one of the above, that should give you enough time to arrange something super-special to make up for forgetting this year!
