Paralegal StudiesDoes the prospect of a legal career appeal to you or someone you know? Perhaps you have a friend or family member who’d like to work in the field of law but isn’t interested in becoming a lawyer? Maybe you know someone who just can’t miss a TV show that involves the legal system, but lacks career direction?

If that’s the case, do them a favor and share this blog because they might be interested in learning more about the Carrington College California Paralegal Studies online associate degree program.

As law firms and legal departments look for new ways to become more cost-effective, they rely more and more on the skills and services of paralegals, sometimes referred to as legal assistants.

Paralegals play an important role in the legal process, and can have a variety of responsibilities because of their versatility. Paralegals help attorneys prepare for court cases, they research legal arguments, identify relevant laws, conduct client interviews and prepare legal briefs and documents. They may work in private law firms, governmental agencies, or in legal departments of large corporations or organizations.

Our online Paralegal Studies program, a mix of liberal studies, business coursework and legal studies, combines traditional lecture and textbook study with lab exercises that can give students the practical experience needed to become secure in their skills.

Because of the breadth of work a paralegal can be involved in, our students are taught a broad range of material, including criminal law, family law, property law and business law. The program culminates in a capstone project that gives students the chance to showcase their new skills through the preparation of documents and presentation of case studies.

Successful graduates are awarded an Associate of Science degree in Paralegal Studies and should leave us with the specialized skills expected of an entry-level paralegal or legal assistant.

Did you know that Ellen DeGeneres once worked as a paralegal before she was famous? If you know someone who might enjoy a challenging and potentially rewarding career in the field of law, have them talk to a Carrington College California Enrollment Services Representative at 1.877.206.2106.
