Saying Joanna Aquino is busy is an understatement. She’s a mom to three amazing kids, works full time and is earning her Bachelor’s degree from DeVry University (DVU). Joanna said it was her sister’s experience at Carrington College that got her interested in the DeVry family.
“My sister is a medical assistant who attended Carrington College. I loved her stories of patient interaction and that’s what inspired me to want to be part of a great health care team,” she said.
Joanna followed in her sister’s footsteps and enrolled in the Medical Assisting program at Carrington College.
“Carrington College was a great experience for me. The schedule perfectly fit my needs as a working mother. Carrington even followed up with me months after graduation to make sure I was able to find a job,” she said.
Joanna went to work in the practice where she did her externship after she graduated. Years later, she found herself becoming the IT support for her office.
“I love helping people and I’ve found a way to help them in a different way,” she said.
Joanna loved troubleshooting and wanted to know more about how computer systems work. After checking out different schools, she chose DeVry University. DVU and Carrington College are both part of the DeVry Education Group.
Choosing DeVry University was a no-brainer for Joanna. Because she graduated from Carrington College, she was automatically accepted into DVU. Joanna chose to pursue a degree in Computer Information Systems.
“The overall atmosphere of attending college was the same. I knew what to expect and knew to come prepared for my first day at DeVry University,” she said.
The partnership between Carrington College and DeVry University gives Carrington graduates a great opportunity to continue their education.
- Qualifying Carrington coursework could transfer as general education, elective and technical specialty credit in select DeVry University programs.
- DeVry University classes are offered year round – days, evenings, weekends and online.
Joanna says she’d encourage anyone interested in furthering their education to check out the great relationship between Carrington College and DeVry University.
“I have watched myself grow as a person while attending the colleges,” she said.
Joanna now works as a Systems Support Analyst. She credits the support she got from Carrington College and DeVry University for her success, and she says she loves showing her kids you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
“I have three children who motivate me to be a better person and a role model I would want to follow,” she said.
