Evelyn Deniz is an inspiration to her Carrington family. She graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at our Pomona Campus in July. “As cliché and corny as it sounds, I chose veterinary medicine because I LOVE animals,” she said. Evelyn chose Veterinary Technology because she wanted a career in the field as soon as possible. “I figured I’d go to school, work hard for 2 years and be in the field sooner than I know it,” she said. Evelyn said as soon as she met the Carrington staff she knew she’d found the perfect fit. “I interviewed at Carrington with Bianca and knew that I needed to look no further,” she said. It wasn’t always easy for Evelyn. She worked 3 jobs her first year and had her daughter her second year. She said the support she got at Carrington helped her overcome her challenges and be a successful student. “They were my biggest fans, biggest supporters, my advisors, my tutors and, most importantly, my friends,” she said. Walking across the stage in July was one of Evelyn’s proudest moments. “I worked this hard so my daughter can look back at all I did for her and know her Mommy loved her and never gave up,” she said. Evelyn will take her VTNE this month and can’t wait to start working with animals! She had some advice for other people in her shoes. “Never give up! If something sets your heart on fire and you’re passionate about it, don’t let anything ever put that fire out. Anything is possible if you believe in what you’re doing and why you’re doing it,” she said. For comprehensive consumer information, visit carrington.edu/cc/vt
