The bottom line is if you want to be healthy, you need to eat healthy! Here are five foods to help you get on the right track.

Talk about a super food! Almonds are jam packed with nutrients.  You’ve got fiber, iron and calcium, all in one bite. One serving (about seven almonds) has more calcium than any other type of nut. They also have healthy fat which can help lower your blood cholesterol levels. Win, win!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s a cheesy old saying. But…it’s legit. Apples have what’s called soluble fiber in them. It can lower blood cholesterol and glucose levels. They’re also packed with vitamin C, which keeps your blood vessels healthy and helps your body absorb iron.

Feeling Blue?

You won’t be if you eat this superfood! Blueberries are the real deal. Scientists say they’re packed with nutrients that could help prevent chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Blueberries might also help with your short-term memory AND help you age better.

Beans, Beans, They’re Good for Your…

Health! Red beans like small red beans and dark red kidney beans are a great source of iron, phosphorus and potassium. They also give your body a boost in low-fat protein and dietary fiber. Not a fan of red beans? You can substitute another kind to get the health benefits.

Here Fishy, Fishy

It’s all about the salmon! It contains omega-3 fatty acids…that’s a kind of fat that makes your blood less likely to form the clots that could cause a heart attack.

Omega-3’s also help lower your triglycerides, lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke. Salmon is also low in saturated fat and cholesterol and a great source of protein.
