A Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, receives and fills prescriptions safely and accurately. The majority of Pharmacy Tech positions are in hospital and retail pharmacies. Once they have completed their coursework, including all the necessary administration skills, our Boise Pharmacy Technology students can experience working in a real-world pharmacy during a clinical externship. So not only do they get theoretical and practical training in a mock pharmacy setting on our Boise campus, they get to test their new skills in the real world before graduation.
Our students are taught pharmacy calculations, medical, and pharmaceutical terminology, as well as the abbreviations and symbols used when prescribing, dispensing, and documenting medications.
