Carrington College Partners with Banner Health to Bring Career Pathways Program to Arizona’s Medical Workforce

Carrington College is proud to announce a partnership with Banner Health to provide educational services for their employees. Through Banner Health’s Career Pathways program, eligible employees have the opportunity to enroll in a Medical Assisting certificate program at one of four Carrington College locations throughout Arizona. These locations include Tucson, Phoenix, Mesa and the Glendale Learning Center.

“It is an honor to be part of the Career Pathways program at Banner Health,” said Michael Como, vice president of operations at Carrington College. “As the healthcare industry works to fill important positions, offering career training opportunities can be beneficial for both the employee and the healthcare provider. Carrington College is dedicated to providing quality medical career education and we are proud to work with Banner,” added Como.

Thanks to a $1.2 million dollar grant secured by the Banner Health Foundation, eligible Banner Health employees in the metro-Phoenix area may enroll in select Career Paths, such as training to become a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assisting certificate program at Carrington College prepares graduates to work in medical clinics, doctors’ offices, hospitals, and care centers where they can perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. Since medical assistants work in a variety of settings, duties can differ greatly depending on the care setting, size of the facility, and specialty of the physicians who work there. Students can complete the Medical Assisting program at Carrington College in as few as nine months.

“People are at the center of all we do and by investing in our team members’ futures, Banner will continue to be a great place to work,” said Julie Ann Alvarado-Dubek, Banner Health executive vice president and chief human resources officer. “Our Career Pathways program provides a meaningful journey where our team members can achieve their aspirations while optimizing our workforce.”

Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Banner Health operates 30 hospitals and several specialized facilities across six states. The non-profit system is the largest employer in Arizona and one of the largest in the United States with over 50,000 employees.

The communities served by Carrington College benefit from its focus on outcome-based learning and the College’s ability to adapt to its changing needs. Faculty, administrators and staff are committed to helping students develop specific vocational knowledge and skills, as well as achieving the core student learning outcomes in information management, technical literacy and professional development.
