Journey at 53

/ Student / Medical Assisting

I was in a place where I was laid off from a job I had worked for nearly 13ys. Knowing that I had to look for a new job was the next step obviously. Well, let me just say that at 53 looking for a new job was definitely a scary thing. It seemed all the jobs I looked at in the medical field; the employers were wanting a person with an MA certificate. So I proceeded to find out what that meant. When I saw that it was a Medical Assistant I knew in my heart this was something I could do. I had been in the Medical field for nearly 15yrs. and figured what the heck. So after calling a couple of places and interviewing, and testing at one I knew this was what I wanted. I had driven by Carrington College for 4 yrs. as it was around the corner from where I use to work. I decided to stop in and check it out. I had NO idea this was going to be the the place where I had met the nicest lady ; Cora. She was the reason I chose Carrington! She gave me options, explained tuition, financial grants(not in detail)available to me, and spoke to me in such a way encouraged me I could do it! What a Lady!! Kudos Cora! So here I am in my 3rd course as a Medical Assistant and loving it. I also have made the Presidents list with a 4.0…….How incredible that feels, and I never would have done it if Cora had not encouraged me that I could!! I did meet with MIchael, who went over grants available to me and such! Awesome staff at Carrington College Citrus Heights!!! Sincerely, Kim Trosin
