How to Relieve Tension Headaches

April 18, 2016

If you’ve ever experienced a tension headache, you know how painful it can be. Here are some ways to relieve tension headaches.

The first step is to add pressure for 15 seconds below the base of the skull and just behind the ear along the natural hair line using your thumbs.

Tension can also be relieved by thumb compression directly on top of the highest point on the shoulder, also known as the trapezius.

A third tip is to squeeze the neck muscle running from the ear to the collarbone, or clavicle.

These techniques can be performed by a massage therapist or you can perform them on yourself.
