Certain snacks can boost your focus on the job
Jobs in health care can require long hours and lots of brain power, so how can you boost your focus when you find yourself dragging mid-shift? Easy! Have a quick, healthy snack that will jolt your brain into concentration mode. There’s plenty of food out there that has the ability to boost your mood, improve your memory and enhance your focus – you just need a quick guide.
Friends to fans of guacamole, avocados are high in monounsaturated fats, which improve communication between brain cells. They also reduce plaque build-up on the walls of your arteries, which improves blood flow to your brain – making sure it’s working at its maximum capacity.1
Research has shown that blueberries can help combat short-term memory loss, so grab a handful in the afternoon when your brain is feeling fuzzy. If you really want to boost your brain power, combine your blueberries with yogurt – it contains an amino acid that helps you focus.2
Some fatty acids that support healthy brain function can’t be found naturally in the body – you have to ingest them – and that’s where fish comes in. Oily fish is your best bet for omega-3 fatty acids, so include some salmon, trout or sardines in your weekly diet.3
You know how your mom always told you to eat your broccoli? She may have been on to something. This green veggie is a fantastic source of vitamin K, which improves the cognitive function of your brain. Throw some in your salad or eat them with hummus for a tasty mid-shift snack.4
Everyone knows that caffeine can give you the jolt you need to concentrate, but did you know that tea can also help you think more clearly? Some researchers claim that a unique amino acid found in tea can increase alertness and improve memory.
