My Starting Point – Mayra Ruiz Gallegos – Meeting Mr. Ron!
Hey guys, it’s Mayra again! If you’ve not read my earlier blogs about my journey through the Pharmacy Technology program at the Mesa campus, you can find them all here! Today I’m excited to introduce you to my teacher and talk a little about the teaching style at Carrington!
Meeting Mr. Ron!
The first day we met our Pharmacy Technology instructor, he told us just to call him Mr. Ron – that’s what he likes us to call him. He didn’t give us his last name, just Mr. Ron! We don’t know why, that just what he wants to be called. Very mysterious!
Mr. Ron has a different teaching style than I was used to at high school. To some people, at first, I think he can come off as a little harsh, or maybe strict, but I think his style is something that is definitely going to help us become better students and better pharmacy technicians in the long run. He believes that you won’t learn something unless you try it on your own first; he doesn’t spoon feed us!
We’re Not in High School Anymore
Compared to high school, I really like the way they teach here at Carrington. It’s very personable; you get to know your teacher and how they function. Just as importantly, they get to know you and how you work as an individual.
In high school you move from teacher to teacher, from class to class, but here you have the one teacher throughout the core program. That means we will really have the chance to get to know each other. Our teachers will know what they need to do for each of us to help us be successful!
Helping Us Grow As People Too
I really believe that Mr. Ron’s approach will help us grow as individuals as well, not just as students. He’s helping us to focus and get our priorities in place. I hope your teacher does the same. Mr. Ron was in the military, so yes he can come off as stern, but personally I think his way of teaching is great. He’s going to teach us a lot, and get us above and beyond where we need to be once we get out into the real world.
It’s going to be a long road to graduation in August, but I know that all the hard work is going to be so worth it – it’s all going to pay-off in the end.
