On Monday, May 13, 2019, Carrington College in Mesa had the honor of hosting Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, where she was able to meet with students and take a tour of the campus.
Congresswoman Foxx was passionate about seeing the campus and program facilities first-hand. She discussed the responsibility our leaders in Congress have to visit local colleges so they can better understand students and the role they serve in the community.
Congresswoman Foxx serves as the ranking member of the House Committee on Education and Labor, which holds legislative jurisdiction over matters related to education, employment and workforce development. The committee ensures that Americans’ needs are addressed so that students and workers may move forward in an increasingly competitive global economy. She also represents North Carolina’s 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, and throughout her time in Congress has helped reduce federal government spending and increase government oversight and accountability.
Congresswoman Foxx is the recipient of several state and national awards and, according to the Mesa campus, was very personable, charismatic and inspirational. The students had a great time getting to know her and loved having the opportunity to meet with her and share their stories.
