Get to know Tannya, one of our newly featured students. Here is how Tannya turned her one day into #DayOne!
Tannya is the first born of her siblings and was raised by a single mother. She is also the first to finish high school and continue onto college within her immediate family. As a child, Tannya loved going to the dentist and still looks forward to her routine checkups. And now, working as a Dental Assistant at a Pediatric Dental Office in Gilbert, Arizona, she is able to educate her young patients about the importance of oral hygiene.
Choosing the Right School
Tannya was certain she wanted to be a Dental Assistant but when it came to choosing a school for herself, she had to consider her options. Ultimately, Tannya knew that Carrington College was the best fit for her .
“I chose Carrington College because I am a hands-on type of learner and I learn better in a small based classroom, I know that Carrington guaranteed that along with the material that I needed for my career. I chose the field of Dental Assisting because I have always believed that our smiles and teeth are very important.”
Starting Her Career in Pediatrics
One of Tannya’s favorite parts of being a Dental Assistant is being able to work with children. She truly believes in the importance of child dental care. Tannya discussed the importance of checkups for children.
“…if we start them young then we will have less people who are afraid of the dentist and eliminate the amount of trauma that happens in a dental office.”
Reflecting on Her Time at Carrington
We were so happy to be able to catch up with Tannya and hear about her continued success since graduating this past July from our Mesa, Arizona campus! She truly has a love for her career and we wish her even more success in her future.
“I do believe that choosing Carrington to start my career was my best decision. I had help from very experienced instructors in the field, so I learned the book strategies and real-life strategies to help me along the way.”
