Carrington College Reno Adds Medical Billing and Coding Program
Reno, Nev. – (May 3, 2012) – Carrington College® Reno announced today it is adding a medical billing and coding program to its offerings. In addition to the new program, the campus currently offers medical assisting and registered nursing programs. The first day of classes is scheduled for August 13, 2012.
“The changing health care environment has created a new demand for information based health care careers,” said Michael Como, executive director of the Reno Campus. “Medical billing and coding provides students an opportunity to step outside the hospital and work in a multitude of different settings, including private health care offices and insurance agencies.”
The medical billing and coding program provides a career path for individuals who are excited to work in the health care industry and act as a liaison between the insurance company and the medical professional. Recording essential information that is necessary to provide patient care is just one example of what students will learn throughout the program. An externship at the end of the program will give students an opportunity to hone their skills in medical insurance billing, clerical functions, and communication in a professional setting.
