Words of wisdom: Oprah Winfrey delivers inspirational speech

MAY

There weren't any giveaways under their seats, but 550 graduates at a small, all-female college in Atlanta, Georgia, took home much more than a free car or silverware set - they took home lifelong lessons from none other than Oprah Winfrey.

Emerging from an impoverished upbringing to become one of the most wealthy women in the world, Winfrey told the class of 2012 that doing good, whether in their careers or while raising a family, takes precedence over all other achievements.

"Never forget that you did not do this by yourself," she said. "You come here today trailing the breath of the ancestors and of the angels … Do the right thing, even when other people think it may not be."

Despite her success, Winfrey has remained humble in her accomplishments, donating millions of dollars to nonprofit initiatives such as The Angel Network, which awards $6 million to U.S. charter school programs.

No matter what degree you decide to pursue in college, Winfrey serves as a stunning example of what you can accomplish after school.
