MESQUITE, Texas – (Feb. 27, 2012) – Carrington College Mesquite, a part of DeVry Inc., a global provider of educational services, will welcome over 40 students on Monday, Feb. 27 as the college opens the doors for its inaugural classes. The students, who will be studying medical and dental assisting programs, are the first to enroll at the Mesquite campus.
“We have received a tremendous response from the community and are looking forward offering our students real-world experiences through the programs we offer,” said Melody Rider, executive director of Carrington College Mesquite. “The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released the fact that in 2011, the health care field saw an increase of 315K jobs. That is wonderful news to our students.”
Located at 3733 West Emporium, the campus offers certificate programs in medical assisting and dental assisting as well as a SimLink™ Experience lab which is a system of learning that uses an advanced simulation environment and custom-made scenarios. These ten-month programs are offered year-round and help prepare students for employment opportunities in physicians’ or dental offices, clinics, health care centers, hospitals or other health care facilities. Clinical, administrative and externship training are included in the medical assisting coursework, while students in the dental assisting program will expand their skills performing administrative duties, patient preparation and post-operative care.
“Our hands-on classroom training and SimLink™ Experience lab will prepare students to enter health care professions with the confidence and skills needed to succeed,” said Rider. “We look forward to many more classes starting and making a positive impact in the community.”
