The 2014 version of the award winning* #carringtoncares challenge wrapped up last week. The challenge is a social media contest that rewards Carrington College students, faculty, and staff for their community service during the Holiday season.
Students demonstrated how they give back to their community by sharing a photo online. If they used the hash tag #carringtoncares, they received a commemorative t-shirt, and the campus with the most entries (by campus Facebook popualtion size) would win a pizza party and lanyard pins!
Record Breaking Participation
This year campuses reported that 1,164 students, staff and faculty participated in the contest – a record breaking number. Students shared images of blood drives, donation drives, random acts of kindness, saving stray kittens, dental care and so much more.
Social media specialist Robin Blunck organizes the annual contest – “Everyone in the Carrington family is so giving and generous; thank you all for sharing with others this season. Our colleagues and students are genuinely caring people and have such a great impact in their communities. Again, thank you all for such an impressive year!”
And The Winners Are…
The results have been tallied and we’re delighted to announce that the Phoenix North campus just edged out the competition to win first place this year. But Robin had a surprise for the runners-up:
“As this year’s contest was so close, and we had two other campuses with so much student participation, we want to recognize them as well for their charitable giving. Congratulations to our Mesa and Pomona campuses; because you were so close to winning, you’ll also receive pizza and lanyard pins! ”
The contest energizes the Carrington campuses, generates some old fashioned campus rivalry, increases social media engagement and highlights our students’ local community service efforts on campus. Carrington College would like to thank all students, staff and faculty who participated in this year’s contest for your efforts. Enjoy the Holidays, and look out for #carringtoncares in December 2015.
