The Architecture Design Drafting program generally consists of:
- Four-hour classes that meet four days a week to provide a streamlined learning format
- A combination of lectures and lab exercises to produce highly competent drafting students
- A significant amount of hands-on experience that can help you develop your speed, accuracy and intuitive use of the latest design software
A program designed to help you redesign the world
As a student in our Architecture Design Drafting program pursuing your Certificate or Associate degree, you’ll gain knowledge of the industry, develop your conceptual thinking skills, and work with current 3D modeling software to prepare you for your future career.
The program is structured so that you’ll begin by learning the computer software and tools that can help you visualize, animate and render your designs. You’ll then be introduced to Building Information Management (BIM) regarding the approach to project management and design. This subject and others involving informative and thought-provoking discussions are covered in both lecture and lab settings. Finally, you’ll spend 12 weeks creating a complete set of working drawings for a residence of your own design. These will be plotted in large format and bound together for you to take on an interview, allowing you to apply the skill sets you’ve learned and to demonstrate your understanding of the building industry.
