Accountants play an undeniably important role in businesses. They help companies to reach their goals and to become successful. When you work in this role, you will have essential responsibilities that include tracking financial records and transactions, handling payroll, and taking care of billing functions. This means that without accountants, no one would be able to keep track of their finances, get a paycheck or run a successful business. Since you’ll have a wide array of responsibilities, we want to ensure you have the skills and confidence necessary to:
- Present revenue forecasts and financial statements
- Perform general financial analyses
- Plan client budgets
- Estimate degree of financial risk
- Write administrative procedures

As a student working to earn your Associate degree in Accounting at Carrington College® California, you can expect to learn the fundamentals of finance and business. You’ll take courses involving theory, application, information systems, and principles of fraud and ethics. The program also focuses on the sales and marketing aspect of accounting in classes such as Economics, Finance, and Resource Management.
Our classroom instruction includes material such as the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that helps you learn valuable accounting skills useful in an office environment. Our teaching style is engaging and, more important, practical. The information and skills you can learn are designed to help you become more marketable as a potential employee. There are many different career paths you can pursue with an Associate degree in Accounting that include working as a:

Accounting plays a critical role in any company by keeping the finances in order. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for accountants and auditors is expected to grow 16% between 2010 and 2020. Median annual wages of wage-and-salary accountants and auditors were $62,850 in May 2011. The middle half of the occupation earned between $48,920 and $83,210. The bottom 10% earned less than $39,640, and the top 10% earned more than $109,870.*
