Vocational Nurse jobs forecast to grow 21% by 2018!*

Vocational Nursing Degree

Vocational Nursing

Vocational nurses work under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed physician to provide basic care for people experiencing common, well-defined health problems. The Carrington College California Vocational Nursing associate degree and certificate program prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN), and for entry-level employment in places like hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, physicians’ offices, care homes, or home health care settings.

Our vocational nursing training program can teach students the practical skills necessary to help them succeed in a vocational nursing career. If you’re looking for a California nursing school, you should take a look at our vocational nursing program because:

  • Students are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN)**
  • The program is a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical experience in the shape of an externship
  • Our faculty members aren’t just instructors, they’re mentors who can help prepare you for the real-world challenges that LVN’s face every day

Pick up a strong set of skills on our Vocational Nursing program

Our Vocational Nursing degree and certificate program can give students the skills and knowledge needed to provide fundamental levels of care and support to patients. Licensed vocational nurses (LVN’s) help patients eat, bathe, dress, and assist with personal hygiene. Students on our nursing program are taught how to measure and record vital signs, to dress wounds, to give injections, and collect samples for testing.

Our vocational nurse classes provide our graduates with a good foundation for the continued learning necessary for success as a vocational nurse. Once you successfully complete the Carrington College California Vocational Nursing associate degree and certificate program, you should have the skills and the confidence to:

  • Demonstrate their academic readiness to take the NCLEX-PN exam
  • Provide care for patients in a variety of health care environments using the nursing process
  • Demonstrate their proficiency in critical thinking and information management

Healthy employment outlook for Vocational Nurses

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that employment of licensed practical nurses will grow much faster than the average for all occupations in the U.S.; the government expects the number of LVNs/LPNs to grow 21 percent between 2008 and 2018.* If your goal is to help doctors and provide vital care for patients, then you should consider a career in vocational nursing. Talk to a Carrington College California Admissions Representative today.

The Carrington College California Vocational Nursing program is available at our Antioch, Sacramento, San Jose, and San Leandro campuses, and culminates in either a Certificate of Achievement or an Associate of Science degree in Vocational Nursing. Program availability varies by location.

**Note that admission to, or graduation from, our Nursing program does not guarantee obtaining a license or certificate to practice nursing. Licensure and certification requirements are the exclusive responsibility of the State Board of Nursing. Completion of the Vocational Nursing Associate of Science degree requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the Carrington College California Registered Nursing LVN to RN program.
