If you’re a student on a budget, it’s likely that you can’t afford a pricey gym membership, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your personal fitness! 1. Take the stairs
Escalators and elevators may be terribly convenient, but taking the stairs will help you get your heart rate up and stay fit. You burn approximately 10 calories per minute when climbing stairs, and that’s without carrying loads of heavy textbooks.
2. Clean your apartment
There are a surprising number of household chores that will help you burn calories. Carve some time out of your weekend to sweep, mop or clean your bathroom for some quality exercise. Offer to help a friend mow the lawn or plant a garden to burn even more calories.
3. Run outside
Who says you need an expensive treadmill to get in a good run? As the weather warms up, take a jog outside after class to clear your head and prepare for a long night of studying or work. It’s a simple workout that will help you achieve results.

5. Stand up
Studies have shown that sitting for extended periods of time can be detrimental to your health, so whenever possible you should take the opportunity to stand. If you need to use a computer, place it on a taller counter so you don’t need to sit down to type, or stand as you talk on the phone.
