If it looks like rain, use these inexpensive activities to occupy your time.

Rainy days can be a bit of a drag when all you want to do is be outside, but now that classes have ended for the semester you’ll be able to use that extra time to do something fun! After throwing on your rain boots and getting in some good puddle-splashing time like you did when you were a kid, cozy up and try out these inexpensive activities for a rainy day.

Watch a movie at a budget theater

Nothing beats having a movie marathon when it’s raining, and if you can’t seem to find anything appealing in your Netflix queue, heading to your local movie theater can be a fantastic, inexpensive option. Now is the time to see all those films you weren’t able to when you were stuck at the library studying for finals.

Catch up on some reading

One of the best things about summer is that you finally have a chance to do some reading that isn’t from a textbook! Throw on some slippers, brew a pot of tea and cuddle up on the couch with a good book. Now is the perfect time to finally read “The Hunger Games” or classics like “The Great Gatsby.”

Have a board game tournament

If the rain has both you and your roommates stuck indoors, break out the board games and have a tournament! Whether it be Monopoly, Scrabble or Risk, there’s nothing like the competitive spirit to pull you out of boredom on a rainy day.

Build a fort

You may not have done it since you were a kid, but don’t tell us you haven’t dreamed of building a fort since! Put all that wisdom you’ve gained over the years to build a fort of epic proportions.

Do some baking

You know those brown bananas you’ve had taking up space in your freezer for months? It’s time to finally make some banana bread! Or any baked goods, for that matter. Tasty treats always make rainy days better.
